Biography

- About Me

     Takuto Koide is an aspiring composer for visual media projects such as film, TV and video game. Born in Yokohama, Japan, he started classical piano training at the age of four. Being raised by two classical music enthusiasts, Takuto naturally nurtured his interests in music, not only in classical music but also in music for film, Japanese animation, video games as well as pop music. The beauty of the perfect collaboration between music and visual media has fascinated Takuto from the very beginning, and the reverie that is delivered by John Williams, Alan Silverstri and Joe Hisaishi’s sophisticated music is the foundation of his works.

     After entering a university in Japan, Takuto joined the university jazz big band and won the national big band jazz contest, which is considered as one of the gateways to be successful in the music industry of Japan. At the same time, he began to take lessons from one of the leading jazz pianists. The years he spent at his university with the big band and his jazz piano teacher expanded his insights about all kinds of music, not only jazz.

     Takuto moved to Boston after working for a movie theater company for some years, to study film scoring at Berklee College of Music. Though his main focus was on scoring for film / TV, he also gained many skills and has worked with film creators and recording artists in the school. Then he moved to Los Angeles where he worked for professional film music composers. Through this experience in real production environment, he expanded his musical skill as well as compositional skill for expressing emotions of films. He has adopted various music style to his composing such as Orchestra, Electronic, Jazz, Rock, and of course Classic.
